About the role

Uniting WA Specialist Re-Entry Services provides a range of programs that support individuals exiting prison to reintegrate into the community and develop positive lifestyles.

The Senior Case Worker - Specialist Re-entry Services provides psychosocial support and individualised case management to individuals serving custodial sentences, to facilitate a positive transition and reintegration in to the community.

The successful applicant will work intensively with a number of individuals who may have mental health issues and/ or intellectual disabilities, or who are serving a long custodial sentence, both pre-release and post release. You will be able to provide mentorship to Aboriginal Peoples as part of the position.

This is a full time maximum term contract until June 2021 with the possibility of an extension.

About you

To be successful you will need to demonstrate:

  • Strong administration skills
  • A strong work ethic, values and integrity
  • A positive and contemporary attitude towards individuals who have offended and their reintegration
  • Current, contemporary knowledge and experience working with individuals with cognitive impairments and significant mental health conditions
  • Knowledge and experience in working with individuals to support positive change
  • Ability to work with those who have experienced significant trauma
  • Excellent communication, case management, and interpersonal skills
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Community Services) or substantial progress towards a qualification and/or relevant experience are required
  • A commitment to work with people from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Willingness, knowledge and experience to mentor people in Aboriginal cultural activities.

A valid WA driver's licence, national police clearance (dated within the last 6 months or the ability to obtain one) as well as the ability to obtain a prison clearance are mandatory for this position.
