The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The primary purpose of Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making (AFLDM) is to provide for the protection of Aboriginal children and young people through the involvement of family, culturally relevant practice and the promotion of community connections.
Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making encourages family members, extended family, Elders, and significant others in the child’s life and where appropriate the child and/or young person, to meet and make decisions about the safety and well-being of children and/or young people who are involved in the Child Protection system.
