About the role

The Senior Case Manager, reporting to the Team Leader, will manage a caseload of children under VACCA’s care and lead investigations into new child protection reports. They will assess and recommend if a child requires protection and work closely with children, families, and the community to ensure safety and well-being. Guided by cultural values, the role aims to restore the circles of care central to Aboriginal child protection. The Senior Case Manager will support the team, handle complex cases, and perform higher duties, making a meaningful impact on Aboriginal children and families.

About You

  • Diploma of Community Services is a requirement
  • Experience working in the child, youth and family sector
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with Aboriginal children and families, demonstrating effective and culturally appropriate interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake complex work with children and families who have experienced trauma and may present with challenging behaviours, using culturally safe therapeutic approaches to heal and build resilience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child development, attachment, and trauma as they relate to Aboriginal children.
  • Understanding of the legislations, policy and practice requirements relating to Aboriginal children, families, and communities.
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
