The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute is dedicated to finding cures for cardiovascular disease through world class medical research. Established in 1994, it is the legacy of legendary heart transplant surgeon Victor Chang. Renowned for the quality of its breakthroughs, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute is working to discover better ways to diagnose, treat and ultimately prevent the onset of heart disease.
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Research Assistant with echocardiography experience to join the Heart Valve Disease and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. In this role you will be involved in efforts to better understand pathophysiology and clinical risk prediction in heart valve disease using state-of-the-art analysis of echocardiographic images and clinical data.
You will be working on projects that aim to identify valvular-ventricular interaction in aortic stenosis, predict disease progression and response to valve replacement.
You will support a dynamic laboratory that has a clinical focus and links to the Department of Cardiology at St Vincent's Hospital.
Experience in echocardiography as a sonographer is compulsory in the selection process. Tasks will include echocardiographic image deidentification and exporting, quantitative image analysis including strain analysis, database construction and maintenance. Specific skills/experience required include experience in working with echocardiographic medical imaging (DICOM files) and experience with quantitative analysis of echocardiography including strain will be highly valued.
The position is part-time funded (3 days/week) for 1 year with the potential for extension.
