Wentworth Community Housing is seeking an experienced Communications Officer with a passion for social justice to join our Western Sydney-based community housing organisation.

Salary offered is between $71,489.08 - $76,975.08 dependent on experience, plus superannuation. Salary packaging is also available.

Key areas of responsibility for this role include (but are not limited to):

• Assisting with the implementation of Wentworth's communications strategy and social media strategy
• Preparation of communications materials such as newsletters, fact sheets, style and brand guides
• Preparation and upload of social media content and monitoring of Wentworth's brand on social media
• Pitching stories as required to local media and developing positive relationships with media representatives, including taking enquiries
• Generating and sourcing content for Wentworth’s website and ensuring website content is kept up to date
• Assisting in the coordination of events including liaising with external suppliers
• Administrative duties to support the Manager Communications & Projects

Core Criteria:

1. Tertiary level qualifications in Communications or related field is highly advantageous, or equivalent relevant experience
2. At least two years’ experience in public relations, marketing or journalism
3. Experience implementing communications strategy, particularly social media and media relations
4. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
5. Excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills
6. Experience in writing and developing newsletter publications, design and publication skills desirable
7. Interest in public policy and social issues
