About the Role

The Balmoral Community Centre is located in Morningside and provides centre-based and outreach programs for the community. These services provide support to diverse range of individuals including older people and people with a disability.

The role includes but is not limited to social and recreational support for people and groups at the centre and in the community, assistance with shopping and appointments, transport to services and general centre-based support.

The Community Service Worker will develop meaningful relationships with members of the community that incorporate the physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs of the individual or group.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic, flexible and holistic care to a variety of clients with varying needs including older people and people with a disability.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to develop rapport and maintain effective relationships with clients, their carers/families and support networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work part of a team to continually promote and provide excellent care and services to customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to report changes in client's condition, needs and other relevant information to the Senior Coordinator.
  • Willingness to learn new process and skills and sound time management skills.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft office programs and ability to learn database systems and applications.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles and practices of privacy, confidentiality and professional boundaries in relation to clients, volunteers and staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and continuous quality improvement practices.
