This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to join our small team and support our high-profile campaigns for the protection of wilderness and nature in South Australia. This new, dynamic position will enable us to develop and implement a fundraising strategy, and also provide important operational support to our Adelaide office.
The Wilderness Society is an Australia-wide, independent environmental advocacy organisation supported by around 30,000 members. Since 1976, the Society has stood at the forefront of the country's most historic campaigns, including campaigns to protect the Franklin River, Tasmanian forests, James Price Point in the Kimberley, and most recently the Great Australian Bight.
The Wilderness Society is constituted as a federation comprising a group of self-governing state and regional offices. The Wilderness Society of South Australia (TWSSA) is one of those and was established in 1983.
Our Core Purpose is "to protect, promote and restore wilderness and natural processes in South Australia", and also to contribute to national initiatives to achieve this objective across Australia. In South Australia, we aim to continue to build on our record of securing the highest level of wilderness protection for 1.8 million hectares of the most intact wilderness in the state. This includes much of the Nullarbor and offshore islands in the Great Australian Bight, together with Marine Parks and sanctuary zones in South Australian coastal waters.
This dynamic position will have responsibility for:
All Wilderness Society employees are employed under a Multi-Enterprise Agreement, and the position is initially being offered for a 1-year term, at 0.8 FTE. Salary is $60,099 - $81,954 pro rata, at 0.8 FTE.
