Women Want Adventure is an outdoor adventure company dedicated to inspiring, empowering, and connecting women to community and the outdoors. We specialise in designing day, weekend, and multi-day trips for women to attend in a welcoming and supportive environment, with a focus on up-skilling women for life-changing adventures. We take great pride in delivering 80% of our trips in-house, while also collaborating with exceptional brands and companies to bring our adventures to life.
Over the past six years, Women Want Adventure has taken over four thousand women on trips, primarily in NSW and ACT. We now operate trips locally, interstate and international. Our small but dedicated team is committed to making a big impact by empowering women to achieve personal goals, try new things, and become part of a supportive community.
We are seeking a highly energetic Events and Salesperson to join our team who are dedicated to inspiring and empowering women to lead adventurous lives. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire community events production from exhibitor events, social events, International Women’s Day events, to developing systems and processes to coordinate with partners and groups, volunteers, contractors, and more to elevate these events.
Your main responsibility will be creating the Women’s Adventure Expo event in Sydney, along with our social events, and others. You will also have the opportunity to create and new events to support our growth.
Your role will involve bringing in women who are new to the community, breaking down barriers of self-belief, and creating creative opportunities for them to connect with other women, share experiences, feel empowered and valued as part of an engaged community.
As with all event-related roles, there will be peaks and troughs in the workload during the project. You may be called upon to work evenings or weekends during the event cycle, either at events and/or on some Women Want Adventure weekends. However, the perks of the role include the ability to attend Women Want Adventure trips.
To be successful in this role, you should have exceptional organisational skills, be able to work to deadlines, and maintain a good work/life balance. You should also have a positive attitude, be highly motivated, and strive to be the best you can be. You will benefit from our optimistic, vibrant culture, flexible hours, and supportive work environment, which will focus on helping you achieve your goals with us.
Please note that this position will require you to participate in events and activities outside of normal business hours. Whenever possible, you will be given advance notice of these events. Additionally, you will need to work at our Sydney city office for two days a week initially. However, as the role progresses and events develop, there may be opportunities to increase your hours per week and have greater flexibility in your work location.
As the Event and Sales Coordinator, you will report the Director.
Working alongside the Director, you will play a pivotal role in planning, creating, and executing events. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the deliverables of all internal events production and event day are met and reporting these to the Director.
With your exceptional organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines, you will ensure the successful delivery of events, and you will be responsible for ensuring that all logistics are taken care of. You will also work with the Director to develop and implement strategies to improve event delivery and maximise revenue generation.
This position is part-time, starting at 16 hours a week with flexible working hours negotiable and can be discussed after 3 months, however in person basis two days per week in Sydney CBD is a requirement.
We believe that social justice and social equity are essential in creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for women to participate in outdoor activities. That's why we up-skill women for life-changing adventures. We understand that many women often lack the skills, knowledge, and confidence to go on outdoor adventures alone, and we provide the necessary support and training for women to achieve their goals.
We believe that promoting social justice means creating more opportunities for women to become leaders in the outdoor industry. We educate and up-skill women guides and promote training and up-skilling within the industry. This creates more opportunities for women to become leaders in an industry that has historically been male-dominated.
We also recognise the importance of providing a supportive community for women who may be going through tough times such as divorce, separation, or other challenges. We understand that many women may feel isolated or alone during these times, and we believe that creating a sense of belonging is crucial to helping them overcome these challenges. If you’re a person who cares about women, community and the environment, this job is for you.
