YFS is looking for an Intake and Assessment Worker to undertake triage and assessment for our housing team.

As a first point of contact for families experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness, you’ll assess clients’ situations, provide information, and refer them to appropriate services.

YFS is Logan’s leading community services organisation with a broad range of services. Due to the current housing crisis, we have received additional funding to provide an immediate housing response to families. Role location: Slacks Creek

Role type: Permanent Full-time

Pay range: $77,832 to $ 83,742 a year based on experience, with salary sacrificing available

In this role you will:

  • Triage response to clients experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness.
  • Assess clients’ current housing situations, affordability, and immediate needs, and provide an effective handover to the relevant team.
  • Be part of a supportive and effective team who gets the job done.

About you

  • You have experience in providing information, referral and assessment.
  • You are curious, and confident about asking the right questions to get the full picture.
  • High-level interpersonal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to build rapport with a calm and empathetic manner. Quickly assess the needs of clients often in a distress and identify appropriate referral pathways.

Experience working in community services with clients with complex needs and an understanding of QHIP is desirable.
