About the role

We are bringing the finance function back in-house and we are seeking an experienced Senior Manager Finance who has extensive experience working for charities that have multiple funding sources, including grants, memberships and donations.  

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our dynamic organisation. In this new exciting part-time position, you will lead the creation of our in-house finance function, ensuring financial stability, legal compliance, and the achievement of our ambitious social and financial goals. You will drive financial excellence by leading the development of our annual budget build, provide the ABA Board and executive with visibility of financial performance through rigorous and effective reporting and manage the annual external audit. Additionally, you will manage essential financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, ensuring seamless processes across the Association. Full and effective handover will be provided by the existing team.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the end-end financial operations with the support of a full-time Bookkeeper.
  • Complex Financial and Management Reporting, monthly reporting for multiple stakeholders across Australia including the development of new reports to suit the needs of various stakeholders.
  • Lead a successful annual external audit, and ensuring all grants are acquitted accurately and on time.
  • Complex budgeting, planning and forecasting across multiple cost centres for multiple stakeholders across Australia.
  • Developing process documentation across all finance & accounting functions and ensuring robust internal controls are managed, monitored and maintained.
  • Board and leadership support and guidance.
  • Human resource compliance relating to finance & accounting functions.

What you'll bring

  • Qualified Accountant with current CA/IPA/CPA membership.
  • At least 5 – 7 years’ experience in leading and developing the finance, accounting and compliance functions, ideally within charities with HPC or PBI status and multiple funding sources.
  • Experience with complex multi-cost centre organisations, ideally with a national organisation with a federated business model.
  • Strong understanding of charity accounting regulations and standards.
  • Extensive experience using Xero, Dext, ApprovalMax, and reporting software such as Reach Reporting or Fathom, including advanced excel skills.
  • Demonstrable experience working closely with a Board, chief executive and senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data succinctly to lay audiences.
  • Solution focused with high level analytical skills.

This part-time role (20 hours per week) has been classified as SCHADS Level 7, $115,065.08 p.a pro rata excluding superannuation.  As an employee of a charity holding DGR status, you are able to salary package up to $18,550 each Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year.
