About Us

Abbotsford Long Day Care Centre is a 55 place, community based, not for profit Centre, located in Sydney’s inner west. ALDCC has been operating for the last 37 years, and has a reputation for excellence in early childhood education, having maintained a rating of Exceeding the National Quality Standards.

ALDCC is licensed for 55 children aged between birth and five years each day. Our professional team of educators is friendly, dedicated, and focused, and includes an early childhood teacher in each of the Centre’s three rooms, which are staffed above required ratios and qualifications. The Centre is well resourced, has high occupancy levels, and is in a sound financial position.

ALDCC’s philosophy centres on the importance of early childhood education and the value of building strong connections between educators, children, families, and the wider community. We are co-located alongside Abbotsford Public School and Abbotsford Community Centre and enjoy a spirit of collaboration. Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the centre, balancing compliance with regulatory requirements with the delivery of high-quality pedagogy.
  • Staff Development & Support: Lead, mentor, and support a team of passionate educators, ensuring professional development, performance management, and a safe and supportive work culture which elevates wellbeing.
  • Quality Education & Care: Work with the Educational Leader to ensure the delivery of high-quality early childhood education, in line with the National Quality Framework.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with families, the local community, and external agencies, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Administrative Duties: Work in conjunction with an experienced Administrator and admin team to manage budgets, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements.
  • Child-Centred Environment: Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of all children and promotes their development and wellbeing.
  • Child Safety & Wellbeing: Ensure that the centre operates as a child-safe organisation, with strong safeguarding practices in place to protect children, and foster a culture of respect, dignity, and inclusion for every child and their family.

About You

  • Experience: Proven experience in a leadership role in early childhood education, preferably within a community-based or not-for-profit setting.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills with the ability to manage a diverse team, inspire others, and lead change.
  • Commitment to Quality ECEC: Willingness to take on role of Nominated Supervisor, and a deep understanding of the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework, and relevant legislation.
  • Community Focus: A strong sense of community engagement and the ability to work collaboratively with families and local organisations.
  • Qualifications: An ACECQA recognised degree in Early Childhood Education, NESA Teacher Accreditation, Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, an approved child protection qualification, and a clear Working with Children Check.
