About the Role

Barnardos are looking for a part-time (21 hours worked across 4 days) Carer Enquiry Worker for the Carer Enquiry Team based at the Barnardos Centre in Cranebrook, Penrith, Western Sydney. This is a 12-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Carer Enquiry Coordinator, the Carer Enquiry Worker will be responsible for;

  • Supporting the recruitment of foster carers to Barnardos programs across NSW and ACT, providing an initial contact point, information and advice for people interested in becoming authorised foster carers or adoptive parents
  • Efficient handling of enquiries from potential carers, ensuring timely provision of information regarding various foster care programs and in relation to specific Barnardos foster carer recruitment campaigns. T
  • Initial screening of applicants against Barnardos eligibility criteria and recording and tracking progression of enquiries, ensuring referral to the appropriate Barnardos program.

About You

To be successful in the Carer Enquiry Worker role, you will ideally have;

  • Demonstrated administrative experience.
  • Ability to navigate Barnardos databases and systems.
  • Ability to understand, explain and support Barnardos policies and practices regarding Out of Home Care placements.
  • Capacity to informally assess and appropriately refer potential carers to Barnardos ACT and NSW programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including a courteous, patient and coherent telephone manner.
  • Ability to provide non-judgemental and culturally competent responses to carer enquirers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Understanding of client confidentiality and mandatory reporting requirements.
  • High level time management and good computer literacy skills.

Salary: Base $53,900 to $54,300 pro rata, plus leave loading plus superannuation. Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
