About the Role

Barnardos are looking for contract Case Manager's for the Foster Care Program based at Barnardos ACT Together in Bruce, Canberra, ACT.

These position's offer three contracts: 6 month, 8 month, and 12 month contract.

Reporting to the Program Manager – Foster Care, the Case Manager will be responsible for;

  • Providing therapeutic informed case management to children and young people who are accessing the foster care service.
  • Ensuring that the outcomes for the children and young people in the service are achieved and works alongside the carers and several other professionals to achieve this outcome.
  • Recruiting, assessing and actively working towards retention of foster carers.
  • Undertaking Permanency Assessments for children moving towards adoption and/or Enduring Parental Responsibility Orders; and Therapeutic Reviews for children in out of home care.

About You

To be successful in the CaseManager role, you will ideally have;

  • An appropriate qualification such as Social Work, Psychology, Education or equivalent that is recognised in Australia
  • Two years previous experience in the child welfare field
  • Demonstrated case management experience including a complex/competing caseload.
  • Sound knowledge of child protection and issues in relation to children at risk particularly in regard to their safety, development, and connection to family, culture and community.
  • Ability to liaise with families, foster carers and professionals and to advocate for children and carers whilst maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Ability to prepare complex assessment reports and intervention skills.
  • High level written communication skills, ability to prepare reports, and correspondence to a high standard for a range of audiences
  • A current driver’s license and the ability to work in a flexible manner, including after hours, when required.

Salary: Base $63,800 to $77,900 plus leave loading plus superannuation. Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
