Are you a seasoned leader passionate about delivering impactful community-based programs with diverse partners? Join Australian Business Volunteers as our newly created Head of Australia Operations, a pivotal member of our leadership team, and drive strategy and operational implementation excellence across ABV’s Australia based programs. The role reports to the newly created Chief Operating Officer, who is a member of the Executive Leadership team.
As Head of Australia Operations based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, you will oversee all aspects of ABV’s Australia based program operations, ensuring the financial health, stability and sustainability of all programs in implementation.
Strategic Leadership:
Deliver on ABV’s Strategic Plan through a focus on the overall financial health, stability and sustainability of ABV’s Australian community-based programs implementation.
Actively contribute to matrix management of ABV’s programs, ensuring effective implementation, operational excellence, alignment to outcome achievement and technical quality assurance
Support the management of external stakeholder relationships and ABV’s profile in the sector, including government and academic relationships as relevant to effective implementation.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee operational implementation of all ABV Australia development programs ensuring compliance with regulatory, contractual, and quality standards.
Support and contribute to the organisation’s continuous improvement of volunteer experience and engagement, and monitoring, evaluation and learning framework implementation.
Drive the financial sustainability of Australia development program operations.
Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals, fostering a high-performing and inclusive culture.
Be a collaborative problem solver with the co-management team for the effective management of programs, ensuring a focus on achieving outcomes for our partners and communities
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and manage key stakeholder relationships as part of operational implementation for, and extension of, ABV’s community programs
You are an influential leader with a deep understanding of community-based programs in rural and regional Australia and a passion for social impact. Your qualifications and experience include:
Formal qualifications in a relevant field e.g., community or international development, social work or similar.
Proven skills, knowledge, qualifications and extensive experience in program and project design, implementation and management, particularly in the not-for-profit sector and/or international development sector.
Experience in managing a portfolio of programs over $5 million revenue per year across multiple years and multiple geographic jurisdictions, with strong program financial management skills and experience.
5+ years in senior management roles leading and developing teams with a commitment to mentoring and capability building.
Excellent interpersonal, persuasive, and oral and written communication skills with the ability to achieve buy-in from all stakeholders and achieve agreed outcomes.
Experience managing teams in a matrix management structure
