The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for the training, assessment and continuing professional development of emergency physicians as well as the advancement of professional standards in emergency medicine in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Position

We are seeking to appoint an Officer, Governance and Risk on a Full-Time basis for a Fixed-Term period of 1 year. The primary purpose of this role is to support the Governance and Risk department in reviewing, administering and maintaining the Colleges’ governance and accreditation activities.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Support the administration activities for the Governance and Risk department with a focus on transferring existing governance documents from PDF format to a new online platform.

  • Reviewing for accuracy, relevance, and compliance of Colleges policies, procedures, guidelines, Terms of Reference, and other governance materials.

  • Coordination with relevant stakeholders to discuss necessary amendments to documents

  • Track all stakeholder feedback to ensure that all comments and suggestions are considered in the final document draft

  • Ensure all updated documents are properly reviewed and approved by designated authorities before publishing

  • Perform quality checks on the converted policies to ensure they are correctly displayed and accessible on the new platform

  • Act as a point of contact for any queries related to policy updates and provide clarification as needed.

  • Assistance with the administration of activities associated with College legal matters, including liaison with the College legal advisors and external parties and the drafting of associated correspondence.

  • Administration of processes associated with the reconsideration, review and appeal of College decisions

  • Assistance with the administration of requirements associated with the College’s accreditation with the Medical Board of Australia and the Medical Council of New Zealand.

  • Organisation of the review and distribution of legislation compliance checklists to relevant units to ensure all policies, procedures and standards are reviewed for legislative compliance.
