NOT YOUR TYPICAL ADVERT FOR NOT A TYPICAL CLINICIAN ROLE

It’s Sonya here, I am one of the leaders at ACNA and I am bumping into this advert to tell you why you should join ACNA. Quite simply, I have never worked with teams that encourage, collaborate and support people to be their best like ours.

So, forget other roles you are considering, if you are a clinician with a health related Bachelor’s degree and at least one (1) years’ experience working with older adults either in community or residential aged care, join us!

Okay, here is some more info about the role!

WHAT IS THE ROLE?

Embark on something a little different, join our Flying Squad.

What is a “Flying Squad” …. sounds like a group of heroes who fly in at a moment’s notice to help people. Well, that’s exactly what we do. We are a team of people ready to move or act swiftly to meet priorities and needs across our important aged care assessment programs.

Will you always Fly? We often fly (hence the name) and can sometimes drive to where we are needed most, both locally and interstate.

Will you work alone or part of a squad … using your clinical reasoning skills as an assessor sometimes you work alone, and other times you might work as part of a surge squad working across multiple programs.

What might this look like? Here is a typical week.

  • Have meaningful interactions with residents and their carers across Residential Aged Care Homes and document this interaction using the digital tools. This may include AN-ACC assessments and Residents’ Experience Surveys.
  • Continue those meaningful interactions with clients, in their home using digital tools for aged care home assessments in the community…yes, we have lots of programs and lots of opportunities for you!
  • Enjoy the sense of belonging and support that comes from being part of a small team with a dedicated Senior Clinical Assessor, whilst benefiting from our national ‘teams of teams’ approach.
  • Contribute to the future reforms in aged care using your daily work and the feedback you provide that will be shared with the Department of Health and Aged Care.
  • Dip into learning experiences and team experiences to expand your knowledge, networks and career.
  • Help us to challenge the status quo and look for ways to make an even bigger impact.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • You are a great communicator, clinician and ready to spend your days conducting assessments that represent the voice and needs of an older person.
  • You love to travel around the country and are able to spend up to two (2) weeks at a time away from your home.
  • Adaptability is your superpower and essential for the Flying Squad. You handle being on the move, meeting new people, working in different communities (regional, remote and metro) with ease.
  • People have called you all sorts of names. Authentic. Fun. Genuine. Resourceful. Approachable. A little bit cheeky. Helpful. Caring. Resilient. Relentless.
  • You’re quick to adapt and develop new skills when called to action.
  • In your spare time we’re likely to find you daydreaming about new ways to create an impact on people’s lives.

Sound interesting?

We have a recruitment process full of activities so you can try the role on for size. To help you consider your suitability for the role, we have included the Position Description

THERE ARE FOUR (4) KEY ASPECTS TO THE MINIMUM CRITERIA:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline directly related to health, aged care or related specialist area.
  • Hold a current unrestricted registration, or be eligible to hold a registration, with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or registered with another relevant professional association.
  • Minimum one (1) year demonstrated experience as a health professional delivering services in aged care settings and/or to aged persons including people living with dementia.
  • Experience conducting client assessments using clinical expertise.

Everything else we provide training for – there is a structured program of learning for your first month with ACNA.

Before starting work with us, as part of the compliance process, you will need to undertake a national police check, complete a pre-placement health questionnaire and undergo reference checks, provide evidence of your drivers licence, COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people in some cases.

ABOUT ACNA

Our charter says…

Access Care Network Australia provides assessment, coordination and case management services to connect eligible people with supports that build on their strengths.

But don’t let the jargon fool you. We're in business to change lives.

We do that by helping our clients (and their families) get the support they need to live life their way.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO DO WHAT WE DO?

3 things. People. People and people.

First, only hire in the words of clients – “amazing beautiful souls” and never, ever, break that rule! Our recruitment process is unashamedly tough (and our training is even tougher!) because what we do at ACNA is a privilege – not an obligation. So, we only hire people when we are absolutely confident they’ve got what it takes to make a difference. Think you do? Then join us!

We can only achieve when our teams are truly reflective of the diverse communities we serve. The more diverse and inclusive our teams, the better we are at serving people from every background. That's why we're specifically looking for dedicated and passionate First Nations people to join us.

Last of all, you need to measure success in people, not data points. We’re yet to find a data point that captures the life-changing impact of an assessment that gives a daughter’s 92-year-old father the renewed confidence to live independently. But each and every day we get a front row seat to these amazing client stories that remind us all why we’re here (and the life-changing power of really great assessments!).

With all our focus on people you might get the impression we’re anti-technology. Not at all! But in delivering over 400,000 assessments we’ve found technology comes second to the power of conversation.

WHAT MAKES US TICK?

Simple. We want people to be their best.

But at ACNA this isn’t something we just write on a poster: ‘being our best’ is a way of life. It’s our credo. It’s a life-long personal commitment to be…

Always learning

Always growing

Always sharing

We could insert a spiel here demonstrating what a great organisation we are to work for, but instead we invite you to listen to stories from our team in our Podcast.

Sure, we work hard and have contractual KPIs to meet, but we also want you to have a great work experience with ACNA and leave us better off than when you arrived through the provision of great learning opportunities and clear connection to the senior leadership team.
