About us

The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) is the national regulator of charities, and we maintain a free online searchable register of charity information.

As the only government agency working exclusively with charities, we contribute to public trust and confidence, work to support independence and innovation, and promote the reduction of unnecessary regulatory obligations in the sector.

We assess new applications for registration, provide guidance and resources to promote good charity governance, and help charities meet their obligations. We also investigate concerns, taking action where necessary.

We are committed to providing exceptional service, and our contribution makes a difference to the Australian community, whether that’s a charity directly, someone in need or a donor.

Joining the ACNC means being part of a small and dynamic regulator, which promotes and invests in a people-centred culture that models our values and supports our purpose.
