The Australian Community Support Organisation (ACSO) is a vibrant, values driven NFP, focused on partnering with Government and the community to co-design services that create real social change. We are an organisation with a bold vision to create a safe and inclusive community where prison truly is the last resort. Our purpose is to strengthen the wellbeing of our communities by advocating for and delivering services which divert people away from the justice system.
The Australian Community Support Organisation recognises the right to a safe and inclusive service without bias. ACSO is committed to the equitable treatment of its participants, employees and partners. We believe in humanity and celebrating the diverse voices of our community through leadership, practice and policy design, to honour and embrace diverse traditions, cultures and experiences of those we support and work alongside.
The role of the Residential Disability Skills Coach is to provide 1:1 targeted support and supervision of residents within ACSO's forensic residential facilities by assisting the development of daily living skills towards identified goals, encompassing evidence-based practice such as positive behaviour support. The support provided involves assisting adults with a disability to develop life skills, implement treatment strategies and facilitate meaningful engagement in activities and opportunities to improve quality of life. This role is predominantly based in the residential service, with the focus on resident's skills development within a home.
Day to day activities focus on building capacity towards each resident's individual NDIS SIL Goals. In this role you will also be required to maintain case notes and undertake associated administration tasks, including related NDIS documentation and progress reports that align with the resident's SIL goals, and foster positive relationships with people involved in the resident's support network.
While ACSO Specialist Forensic Disability Accommodation (SFDA) facilities typically operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, the role of the Residential Disability Skills Coach, will generally be rostered to work during the hours of 7am to 10pm including weekends and public holidays. There may be exceptional circumstances that require the Residential Disability Skills Coach to work outside these hours.
If you think you'd be a great fit - we'd love to hear from you!
