About the role and program

The ReStart program aims to address the diverse and complex needs of short sentence (i.e. three months or less) and unsentenced people by providing pre-release support and assertive outreach support, which promotes sustainable links and reintegration within the community. The program prioritises people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, youth, and those with a cognitive background.

Reporting to the Program Manager, you will be responsible for effectively leading the day-to-day service delivery of ReStart, guiding a medium sized team to ensure quality client outcomes.

Success as a Team Leader requires you to have strong leadership qualities, an enthusiasm for supporting and developing others, and a sound understanding of the challenges faced by people exiting custody.

The beauty of this role is that no two days are the same! Therefore, you'll be someone who loves variety, presents with a calm demeanour and is comfortable juggling competing priorities in a fast-paced environment!

What we're looking for

Whilst the below are important to us, if you don't meet all the criteria, that's ok! We are most focused on finding someone with a "can do" attitude, who is aligned with our values, and is flexible team player! Ideally, you'll also have/be:

  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role (highly advantageous)
  • A minimum diploma level qualification in Community Services, Mental Health or a similar
  • Ethical, self-motivated and committed to helping others achieve their goals.
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by those leaving the prison system, and a willingness to successfully work with those presenting with high-risk offence histories
  • A high level of emotional intelligence and ability to effectively lead others during times complexity, ambiguity and/or fast pace
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining clear professional boundaries
  • A strong sense of personal accountability and resilience
