The ACT Down Syndrome Association (ACTDSA) aims to improve the quality of life for people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities by providing support and information to their families, carers, schools, employers and other organisations.

ACTDSA also aims to increase awareness of the abilities and needs of people with Down syndrome through our programs, events and activities.

ACTDSA actively works within the community to assist in the removal of barriers for people with a disability to access mainstream services.

We are looking for a Community Resource Officer for 2-3 full days per week, SCHADS AWARD Level 3, in our office in Pearce. This is a contract position until April 2024 with the possibility of an extension.

Duties include:

• Event Coordination
• Data entry
• Maintaining website
• Development of monthly e-news
• Develop social media content using Canva
• Management of meeting room bookings
• General admin duties as required

Qualifications and Experience

• Current First Aid Certificate
• Current WWVP check or the ability to obtain
• Office admin and event coordination experience highly regarded
• Tertiary qualifications are highly regarded but not essential. This job could be suitable for a person studying in a related field at university or CIT
• Experience in the disability sector or disability lived experience highly regarded
• Ability to follow complex instructions and work independently essential
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential
