About the Position

We are looking to welcome a Residential Support Worker to undertake day-to-day household duties for The Family Reunification House in Cairns and support children and young people, house administration, and social environment.

  • Casual opportunity in Cairns.
  • Level 2 under the SCHCADS award. Casual hourly rate is $40.26 per hour plus super.
  • As a 24/7 service this role involves availability to work weekends and evenings including sleepovers at the house

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the day to day household duties, property and grounds maintenance, cleaning, and shopping.
  • Provide warmth and care to children of all ages who have been abused and neglected supporting emotional, physical, cultural, relational, and spiritual needs, and fostering self-esteem and individual identity.
  • Work respectfully and constructively with all the family members involved in the reunification process.

About You

  • Hold or in process of completing a Degree in Community Services or other relevant field; or hold or in process of completing a Certificate IV in Child Youth & Family Intervention or other recognised qualification as outlined in the Strengthening the Queensland Residential Care Workforce – Minimum Qualification Standards Information Sheet.
  • Hold the Hope & Healing Foundations Framework certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist in the running of a busy household.
  • Demonstrated skill, ability and experience in caring for children.

Other Requirements

  • Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
  • Legally able work in Australia (proof of eligibility will be requested).
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical exemption.
  • Suitability Check to be engaged in the provision of care services by licensed out-of-home care service providers.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to continue to develop your cultural competency by working closely with the Cultural Advisor on developing, implementing, and maintaining a cultural practice plan individualised to your development needs.
  • Current Senior First Aid certificate or the ability to acquire one.
