Action for People with Disability is a community-based organisation providing independent, individual advocacy and support to people with disability and their families. Our advocacy represents the needs, interests, rights and opportunities of people living with a disability.

Action for people with disability was formed in 1978 by families in the community with one integral mission; an unwavering commitment to the belief that people with disability have the same rights as all other people. Our vision and objectives are driven by our desire to achieve inclusion and empowerment, whilst removing barriers for people with disability.

About the Role

We have a unique opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team to manage the roll-out of two initiatives designed to improve access to critical information for people living with disabilities and their support teams, and to support the continual development and best practice approach of our advocacy services.

Your tasks will vary across each project, but common tasks will include:

  • Collaborating with our team to plan the projects, establishing key dates and desired outcomes
  • Making arrangements for internal and external events, including engaging suppliers and contributors
  • Networking within the disability sector to generate awareness of our events
  • Marketing and advertising of events in both digital and hard copy formats
  • Facilitating events in collaboration with our team
  • Preparing reports and ensuring the projects meet grant funding criteria.

The role is a fixed contract position for 16 hours per week between November 2023 and September 2024.

About You

Our successful candidate will, above all else, have a strong desire to make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of people living with disability. You’ll also:

  • Have an exceptional ability to manage your time and meet deadlines
  • Be well organised with highly developed planning and execution skills
  • Show a confidence to network in the disability sector to promote our projects
  • Communicate well both in writing and verbally
  • Have lived experience of disability or supporting a person with disability
  • Be collaborative, persuasive and be able to adapt your skills to build and maintain successful partnerships with clients, colleagues and community stakeholders;
