Campaign Lead / Political Strategist

About the Role:

In this role you would be the key strategist and project leader for the ACT Greens’ federal election campaign. Reporting to the Party Director and working closely with the Campaign Team, Candidates, Organisers and Volunteers, you will craft and execute innovative strategies to achieve electoral success. You will support a small team of campaign staff (organisers), ensuring a positive and supportive culture that prioritises the wellbeing of all involved.

The hours for this position are negotiable for the right candidate and could be part time or full time. The position is based in our Braddon Office and will run from December 2024 until four weeks after the federal election date. The position involves regular evening and weekend work, with Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement the ACT Greens’ federal election campaign strategy in collaboration with the Campaign Team.
  • Communications & Media: Lead media engagement, refine messaging, and manage public relations.
  • Leadership: Build and support a campaign culture of wellbeing and collaboration.
  • Fundraising & Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate campaign fundraising and engage with like-minded stakeholder groups.
  • Community Engagement: Work with Organisers, Volunteers and Neighbourhood Teams to enhance campaign visibility and capacity across the ACT with a specific focus on the federal electorate of Canberra.
  • Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day campaign operations, ensuring efficiency and responsiveness.

Key Attributes:

  • Proven experience in campaign management or project leadership in resource-constrained environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in media and strong communications skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and inspire teams.
  • Commitment to Greens principles and a strong political acumen.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and manage competing deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience leading election campaigns.
  • Knowledge of voter contact techniques and Greens systems.
  • Fundraising expertise.
  • A valid Driver’s Licence.
