About the Role

We are seeking two regional coordinators in Wellington and Dubbo NSW to lead an innovative domestic violence and child protection project.
The Association of Children’s Welfare Agencies (ACWA) is the NSW peak body representing non-government agencies delivering services to vulnerable children and young people and their families. We work with our members, partners, government and non-government agencies and other peak bodies to bring about positive systemic reform that will deliver better outcomes to the lives of children, young people and families.
ACWA leads the Family Safety Collaboration, which is a collaborative planning and change readiness project aimed at improving the way services, agencies and community work together to support families affected by domestic and family violence (DFV) and child protection (CP) concerns in Dubbo and Wellington, to ensure early wrap-around support to improve families’ safety.
As Regional Coordinators, you will be responsible for leading implementation of Family Safety Collaboration action plans that have been agreed in an initial planning phase, in partnership with local services and agencies, as well as iterative phases of planning and implementation. You will work closely with government agencies and NGO’s, ensuring their ongoing engagement, establishing cross-sector governance, and supporting sector development. You will also have close engagement with Aboriginal governance groups and community members and people with lived experience of DFV, to ensure outcomes meet communities’ objectives and needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Extensive cross agency, sector and community engagement across the child and family and domestic violence service sectors, and collaboration with Aboriginal community and governance groups.
- Cross sector governance, coordination and implementation, and implementation and delivery of locally agreed Family Safety Collaboration action plans.
- Coordinating the delivery of a sector development plan including communities of practice and training.
- Leading activities to improve support for families; including journey mapping with people with lived experience of domestic and family violence, and working with stakeholders to identify areas where ongoing change is needed.
- Support development of an outcome’s measurement approach, and implementing the recommendations of action planning, evaluations and reviews, to ensure continual system improvement.
About You
To excel in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and child, family and community safety, and extensive knowledge of domestic and family violence and child protection response systems, stakeholders, and issues.
- Exceptional relationship management and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of government, NGO, community and service user stakeholders, to achieve community outcomes.
- Ability to lead and facilitate activities that will drive improvements in system responses to domestic and family violence and child safety concerns and sector development.
- Demonstrated awareness of challenges faced by Aboriginal families and communities in relation to DFV and CP responses, and the ability to partner with first nation communities and organisations.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills. project management and secretariat skills.
- Substantial relevant professional experience, or relevant tertiary qualifications.
- NSW Drivers Licence Class A, and own vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Working with Children Check
- Note, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural knowledge and experience is highly valued. (One of the positions is a targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role.)
