Job Purpose

The Aboriginal Health Project Officer (AHPO) will work in partnership with Adelaide PHN staff, the Integrated Team Care provider, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHO’s), Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCO’s), Aboriginal Medical Services (AMS’s) and mainstream services to improve access for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Through the delivery of codesign and capacity building activities the AHPO will support the transition of ITC services in line with Priority Reforms as part of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap (the National Agreement).

Who we are looking for

You will:

  • Be an Aboriginal person who wants to contribute to improved outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by improving access to culturally appropriate primary health care services.
  • Provide leadership in driving the uptake of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific MBS items and support activities to improve the experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people when receiving services.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health services and mainstream health services in a partnership approach.
  • Have excellent communication skills, a commitment to collaborate, connect and improve services.
