Climate Justice Lead - Bendigo / Shepparton

ARC Justice

We exist so that rights are known and acted upon and communities are fairer.

ARC Justice is an independent, for-purpose, human rights organisation that incorporates the Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre, the Goulburn Valley Community Legal Centre and Housing Justice. We have offices in Bendigo and Shepparton and work with people in regional and rural Victoria who experience disadvantage relating to their housing, family, relationship, consumer, economic, social and civil rights.

About the role

ARC Justice recognises that the climate crisis is changing life for central and northern Victorians. It affects the sustainability of our communities - our social, financial and physical wellbeing, as well as our ecological security. The changing climate creates and exacerbates power imbalances causing disadvantage. And the impact is not shared equitably, with those the least resourced affected the most. ARC Justice’s teams have witnessed the injustices experienced by community members in the wake of widespread flooding in October 2022 and again in January this year. While providing individuals with targeted help, we have worked to make the causes of injustice visible to policymakers and other decision-makers. But flooding is not the region’s first … or last disaster. Increasingly, the changing climate is reshaping ‘business as usual’ for rural and regional Victorians. The Climate Justice Lead will be an expert in working with communities towards an equitable adaptation. Join us at ARC Justice and help us make a real-world impact.
