We want to hear from AEU members or experienced campaigners/organisers interested in working inside the engine room of one of the largest unions in Tasmania!

The AEU is the strongest voice for public education and you could be one of the people who help make it all happen.

We are recruiting now for a full-time Organiser to be based in Hobart.

The role is permanent, however, there is some employment flexibility available, and a secondment may be an option for AEU members.

Selection Criteria

  • A team player with a demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • An understanding and commitment to the principles of organising and objectives of the union movement
  • A high level of understanding of issues facing educators in the public sector specifically
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor and inspire people
  • Ability to train and develop workplace leaders
  • Ability to communicate clearly and be persuasive
  • Demonstrate your ability to recruit new members and implement change in workplaces.

The essentials

  • Prior organising or campaigning experience
  • History of trade union involvement, including experience of being a workplace delegate or activist
  • Current C class driver’s licence
  • Eligibility to hold a Right of Entry permit
  • Appropriate Good Character Checks required to work in education settings

Desirable

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
