Are you passionate about marine life, have a knack for creating engaging digital content, and wish to be a voice for the ocean’s most majestic creatures? If so, this is your chance to use your creative flair to help create lasting change for marine animals.

Where will you be located?

The location is flexible, with the option to volunteer completely from home or come and work with us in our Melbourne office.

What are the minimum time commitments?

You can volunteer at any time that it suits you. We expect that you sign up to a 12 month commitment and have approximately 5 hours per week available for volunteering.

Who is Action for Dolphins?

At Action for Dolphins, we’re leading a change for the betterment of dolphin lives. We work from the shores of Japan where we campaign to halt the devastating dolphin hunts, to Australia’s coastline where we’re advocating to remove harmful shark nets. Our recent victory in banning dolphin breeding in New South Wales is the kind of institutional change we achieve.

Our work extends to protecting marine life and the ocean they call home. We showcase how people can encounter marine life in a responsible way, and advocate for the end of captivity. We also advocate to help protect our marine environment for future generations by securing strong nature laws and pollution reduction campaigns.

What will a typical month look like in the role?

  • Craft compelling and engaging content, including video reels, static posts and stories for our social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Engage with our followers and respond to queries in a respectful manner.
  • Stay informed about marine conservation issues, particularly those affecting dolphins, to ensure the content we create is timely and engaging.

What about you?

To thrive in this role, you’ll ideally have:

  • A strong interest in social media and digital marketing and familiarity with social media platforms and analytics tools.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt your tone for different platforms and audiences.
  • A creative flair, with an eye for design and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to work independently.
  • Previous experience in social media or digital marketing platforms and Canva is beneficial but not essential.
  • A keen interest in marine conservation and animal welfare, especially relating to marine life.

What do we offer?

  • A flexible volunteering schedule that respects your time and commitments.
  • The opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that makes a real difference in the conservation of marine animals.
  • An inclusive and supportive team environment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and to enhance your understanding of marine conservation issues.

We look forward to hearing from you.
