Long established in providing family support services, Aboriginal Family Support Services (AFSS) is at the forefront of supporting Aboriginal families and communities across South Australia.
Team Leaders oversee the day to day operations of Olga Fudge Lodge and Narungga House. This includes a strong focus on fostering relational-based and respectful support to young Aboriginal people. There is an emphasis on equipping Youth Support Workers with the skills and structures they need to proactively engage with clients in the running of the service including house meetings, menu planning, shopping, cooking and building the capacity for clients to live independently. Team Leaders mentor Youth Support Workers in their delivery of services to crisis accommodation clients. Team Leaders also assist to maintain and document employee compliance, expenditure and petty cash.
You will be a proven leader and passionate about supporting and improving the lives of young Aboriginal people who are homeless or who are at risk of being homeless. You will be experienced at engaging easily and comfortably with Youth Support Workers and with young Aboriginal people (age range is 15 to 25). You will understand the impact of homelessness on young Aboriginal people and be able to offer support, encouragement and guidance to both Youth Support Workers and young people in the service.
