Huong Truong is your Greens candidate for Fraser. She’s a local community activist and working class mumma who knows what years of Labor’s inaction has left us with - sky-high rents, grocery bills through the roof and a wholesale lack of public infrastructure to help.
Fraser deserves a representative who has and will fight for us. This Fraser Campaign will be won in the streets and on the doors. It will be a campaign powered by hundreds of community members, thousands of small donations from everyday people.
Unlike the major parties, the Greens don’t take donations from fossil fuel companies and big corporations trying to buy influence. So from the doors to the donors, we can only win this campaign if we organise thousands of people to take action with us and give what they can.
Are you passionate about community organising? We are looking for skilled and passionate Field Organisers to scale up our federal election campaign in Fraser.
As a field organiser, you’ll work closely with the Australian Greens Victoria campaign team and your local electorate campaign team to implement a field strategy within the Fraser electorate.
Our growing base of volunteers have been campaigning for over 10 months, and with our star candidate, Fraser is more winnable than ever. The next Federal Election could happen anytime between August 2024 and May 2025. This election presents a crucial opportunity to activate the working class, multifaith, multicultural communities of the west and put the Greens in the balance of power in the lower house.
You will build up our team of skilled volunteers to support our movement to have meaningful and persuasive conversations within your electorate. You will be implementing four key elements of our election campaign at a local level; (a) volunteer recruitment and activation, (b) voter contact coordination, (c) leadership development, and (d) training. As the campaign progresses, further staff may be hired depending on campaign needs and the success of our grassroots fundraising.
This isn’t your average job: you’ll often work weekends and evenings instead of weekdays, and you’ll need to be self-motivated and flexible. If you enjoy working with people from all walks of life and are passionate about organising the grassroots to make progressive change, you’ll love this job.
We strongly encourage people with diverse lived experience to apply, such as First Nations People, women of colour, LGBTQIA+ folks, disabled people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, even if you feel your professional experience doesn’t match all of the selection criteria.
Applicants with direct and deep connections with the Fraser electorate will be considered favourably.
Our intention is to have a team of at least two Field Organisers who bring different skills sets and strengths and who will work really well, together and with the broader Fraser Campaign team, to deliver unprecedented success and learning. Some of these responsibilities may be shared or divided between the Fraser Field Organiser/s depending on the requirements of our Fraser Field Strategy, plans and tactics.
We encourage you to apply even if you don’t have all of the relevant skills. We’re looking for someone organised and thorough and with passion for our movement, which we prioritise over formal education or qualifications.
We’re committed to diversity and supporting the right person to thrive in this role. For a confidential conversation about this role or the recruitment process, please contact James Temple via [email protected] using the subject line: Fraser Electorate Organisers enquiry via EthicalJobs.
