Are you passionate about empowering Aboriginal communities and enhancing health services for our Elders? The Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA) is looking for a dedicated and dynamic Greater Choices Project Officer (Palliative Care) (50D) to join our team.

As the Greater Choices Project Officer, you will be at the forefront of the Greater Choices for At Home Palliative Care (GCfAHPC) project. Your mission will be to enhance access to culturally appropriate, high-quality palliative care services at home for our older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will coordinate with various health services, develop resources, and engage with communities to ensure their needs are met. This includes:

• Acting as the primary contact for the GCfAHPC project, providing workforce support and ensuring effective coordination.
• Collaborating with the Workforce and Training Coordinator (Aged Care) and the Workforce Team to organise engagement activities.
• Attending Community of Practice meetings and supporting AHCWA’s Member Services.
• Developing and distributing culturally appropriate promotional and educational resources.
• Undertaking community outreach to raise awareness about palliative care services.

About You

Aboriginality is an essential criterion and is provided for under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).

We are looking for someone who has:

• Minimum Certificate III in health, social work, community services, or a related field.
• Experience in palliative care, aged care, or related health services.
• Knowledge of community health services and resources for at-home palliative care.
• Strong communication, organisational, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and an understanding of their health and cultural needs.
• Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety including an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.
