The Australian Hand Therapy Association Ltd is seeking a skilled and committed professional to join our Board of Directors as an Appointed Director to support the board and association with advocacy and policy expertise.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of our organisation and help influence policy outcomes that align with our mission.

The role

As a company director, you will:

  • Provide governance and strategic oversight, ensuring the association operates in line with its mission and values.
  • Help set the association’s long-term goals and provide direction on advocacy and policy-related matters.
  • Represent the association to key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate policy changes that could impact the association and its members.
  • Participate in decision-making processes, including risk management, financial oversight, and organisational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations as part of the board’s collective responsibility.

Advocacy and policy focus

Your expertise will support the association to:

  • Drive the development of strategic advocacy initiatives that promote the associations’ objectives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to influence policy frameworks relevant to our industry.
  • Lead efforts to engage stakeholders in advocacy campaigns and public policy discussions.

Appointment details

Term: Two years

Meetings: Six meetings annually (Two in-person and four via teams)

  • Board and governance experience
  • Proven experience in advocacy, public policy, or government relations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
