AHURI is a national independent research network and the only organisation in Australia dedicated exclusively to housing, homelessness, cities and related urban research. Through our national network of university partners, we undertake research that supports policy development at all levels of government, assists industry in improving practice and informs the broader community.

This role

AHURI convenes the biennial National Housing Conference, Australia’s premier housing event being held in Perth in October 2025, and is seeking someone with strong administration and organisational skills as well as excellent customer service to join our Events team. This is a full time contract position until 31 October 2025.

Reporting to the Conference and Events Manager, this role includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Key point of contact for delegate enquiries and liaison
  • Coordination of online meetings for conference working groups, committees and with speakers and facilitators
  • Coordinate travel and accommodation requirements of staff and speakers as required
  • Onsite event assistance – be onsite at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (October 2025)
  • Liaising with the Finance team and following up outstanding payments from delegates.

Your skills and experience

  • Diploma or qualification in events or administration discipline.
  • Friendly, can-do customer service orientation.
  • Strong administration and organisational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous event experience desired (but not essential).
  • Must have experience working with databases, previous experience with Jomablue or other event management platform an advantage.
  • Self-reliant and a strong sense of initiative, with the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure and an ability to adapt to rapid changing situations.
