Are you passionate about making change for animals and ready to make a significant impact in New South Wales? The Animal Justice Party is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the NSW State Director.

  • Position: NSW State Director
  • Location: New South Wales, Australia
  • Reports To: NSW Committee
  • Salary Range: Negotiable, depending on skills and experience
  • Work Arrangement: Contract until March 2027 – with possibility of extension. Work from home. Must reside in NSW. Part time will be considered.

About the Role:

The NSW State Director for the Animal Justice Party (AJP) plays a critical role in driving the party's mission and vision across New South Wales. This broad role demands a versatile skill set and experience. The State Director will work closely with the NSW Committee, our elected representatives and our local groups to implement the party’s strategic plan and coordinate the operations of the NSW state branch. The State Director will take a leading role in managing communications, social media, volunteer engagement, member management, and compliance with the NSW Electoral Commission.

This position is not involved in the internal political structure of the party and as such is prohibited from involvement in internal elections. This position is funded through the NSW Electoral Commission’s Administration fund and, due to strict compliance rules related to the expenditure of these funds the NSW state Director is prohibited from being involved in election related campaigning

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organise and support our local groups
  • Support the work of our elected representatives
  • Implement the NSW Branch’s strategic plan
  • Advise the NSW Committee on campaign strategy, and execute animal and environmental campaigns at the local and state level and in line with AJP policies
  • Manage communications, social media, and media relations.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers, and manage member relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with NSW Electoral Commission regulations and manage administrative tasks.
  • Understand and oversee the financial aspects of the state office.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in organising and campaigning
  • Strong communication and social media management skills.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination and member management.
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, compliance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and under pressure.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination and member management.
  • Passion for animals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Communications, Marketing, or a related field; and/or
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within a political or non-profit organisation.
