Applications are invited for the full-time ongoing position of Executive Assistant in the Office of Allegra Spender MP, based in the Member’s Electorate Office in Edgecliff, NSW.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Allegra’s dynamic and collegiate team at the forefront of driving a new and more inclusive way of doing politics in Australia. This is an ideal role for someone wanting to either:

The Executive Assistant works closely with the Chief of Staff and the broader team to support the Member with office and diary management. This includes proactively managing stakeholder and constituent relations and smoothly overseeing busy diary and travel arrangements.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role supports Ms Spender in both a professional and personal capacity. The key responsibilities of the role are, but are not limited to:

  • Working with the Member to maintain efficient administrative systems and procedures in a busy electorate office
  • Diary management, prioritising engagements, organising meetings and logistics
  • Correspondence, including writing responses
  • Travel management within the government framework
  • Stakeholder and constituent contact management, including a CRM system (Voter ID)
  • Working closely with the team to support the Member’s busy schedule, including preparation of meeting agendas, briefs and background notes
  • Other reasonable duties as required

ABOUT YOU

The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, experience and qualifications:

Skills:

  • Attention to detail
  • Extremely organised and efficient, with strong time management skills
  • Warm personal style with a strong commitment to customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Capacity to learn quickly, be proactive and take initiative, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Interest in politics and current affairs, including issues in the Wentworth community
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • The ability to work under pressure and maintain the highest ethical standards is essential
  • Microsoft Office suite

Experience:

  • Experience in an Executive Assistant role or, tertiary qualifications and an interest in politics and/or community engagement

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23 which include:

  • A commencing salary Level EOA6 of $73,098

  • An additional discretionary amount of up to $40,000 will be offered depending on skills and experience

  • An employer superannuation contribution of 11% will be payable.

An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.

The successful applicant will be required to comply with the Draft Behaviour Standards and Code endorsed by both Houses of Parliament and may be required to undergo a National Police History check.
