About All Things Equal

All Things Equal is seeking a passionate & reliable Head Chef for immediate start. This role is perfect for someone looking to be a part of an exciting new not-for-profit, be creative in your role, work with some brilliant individuals and have some fun whilst doing it. All Things Equal is based in Carlisle St, Balaclava Melbourne.

This new café concept employs people with a disability, to provide each person with the opportunity to contribute in a ‘mainstream’ work environment. The cafe also employs core staff without a disability, to provide adequate training, mentorship and support, and to ensure everyone is set up to thrive and succeed.

We believe all people should be able to find a self-sustaining purpose in life, that allows them to contribute to society in a meaningful way, and maintain a sustainable income, regardless of having a disability or not.

We are on a mission igniting a movement where we bridge the gap between people with a disability and the wider community and celebrate people just as they are; this is the very foundation of our vision.

WHAT WE NEED:

Our café has a fresh, seasonal menu, where we source local, quality produce.

Skills & Experience:

  • Significant time in management roles (Head Chef, Sous Chef)
  • Experience in stock control
  • Manage rosters with kitchen staff
  • Relevant trade qualification (Cert III or similar)
  • Ability to motivate, mentor and lead an incredible team, all with a set of unique qualities with and without disability
  • Motivate and inspire the team to provide an experience that delivers a sense of achievement for the team members and subsequently for the customers
  • Must harness patience and encourage a supportive, positive team environment
  • Champion food safety standards
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willing to work weekends and early mornings
  • Excellent communication
  • Enthusiastic to grow and support our vision
  • Must have valid Visa and Australian working rights
  • Develop innovative menus and dishes
  • Implement high standards of food presentation
  • Maintain high levels of hygiene and OH&S in the kitchen
