Hospitality Trainer - Disability Support

All Things Equal

All Things Equal is an innovative social-enterprise providing purposeful paid employment, training and work-readiness for people with disability in the hospitality industry.

As we mature, our purpose evolves, and our focus is now on implementing an Employment Pathway model; to act as a stepping stone towards mainstream employment, providing our employees with disability the skills, confidence, and independence to live a life with purpose.

To achieve this purpose, we are evolving the ways in which support is provided in the workplace.

We are super excited to have recently implemented an in-house Hospitality Trainer model. The Hospitality Trainer role is key to the evolution and success of our social enterprise and has potential to evolve and grow with you.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Hospitality trainers are responsible for the professional development of our trainees and on the job. Working 1:1 with trainees, the Hospitality Trainer will provide effective hands-on direction and coaching to trainees to build their capabilities, with positive support and guidance.

This will include:

  • Together with the trainee, provide excellent customer service to all customers who enter the cafe. This includes all elements of service, from engaging with customers, taking orders, preparing drink orders, serving food and drinks and processing payments.
  • Ensure the professional development of the trainee on shift is the primary focus, whilst balancing this with the operational needs of the cafe, as directed by the cafe manager. This includes the wellbeing of the trainee, as it relates to work.
  • Support trainees to be engaged, focused, calm, and working to their best capacity.
  • Track trainees progress against the tasks and competencies set in each module of learning.
  • Facilitate assessments for the trainee (with support!), to ensure that trainees progress through modules and stay on track for program completion.
  • Prepare visual daily task lists for trainees, in line with day to day cafe requirements, as advised by the Cafe manager.
  • Weekly communication with the HR manager in relation to any challenges, successes or opportunities you observe for each trainee on shift.

Our Hospitality Trainers will be supported by an incredibly passionate leadership team, and provided with bi-monthly professional development with Disability specialists to develop skills, talent and expertise in your role as Hospitality Trainer. Whether you've worked in the disability space in the past or you're new to it, you will be supported along your journey.

This is a part-time role with potential for growth based at our flagship cafe in Balaclava, with opportunity to work across other pop-up sites. Ability to work weekends, including Sundays will be highly regarded!
