Primary Purpose of the Role

The primary responsibility of the Administration Officer, Criminal Law Practice is to assist in the delivery of high-quality legal support services to Aboriginal clients.

About the Role

The Administration Officer is part of the Criminal Law Practice based at Redfern, NSW.

The Administration Officer will be responsible for:

  • Managing the reception area
  • Operating the office phone system between the hours of 9.00 am to 5.00 pm
  • Providing secretarial support services to Criminal Law Solicitors
  • Providing word processing support using Microsoft Office Systems, including correspondence, preparation of briefs of evidence, subpoenas, affidavits, court reports and other documents.
  • Organising client files for the next week’s court dates
  • Input of statistical data into CMS database including opening, closing, archiving files and other general data entry.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Proven computer systems skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook and typing skills.
  • Excellent phone manner and communication skills and experience in operating a small to medium switchboard.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work independently in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Capacity to behave in a culturally appropriate manner.
