Primary Purpose of the Role

The Administration Support Officer provides a range of reception and administrative support to the ALS Redfern Street and Chalmers Street Offices to ensure the smooth running of the office, and to ensure all clients and visitors to the Redfern Street office are provided with excellent service and support. The position holder is responsible for the travel and accommodation booking for all ALS employees

About the Role

The Administration Officer is part of the Shared Services team within the ALS.

The Administration Officer will be responsible for:

  • Proactively respond to all phone and email enquiries daily, including transferring calls and/or taking and passing on messages to the appropriate office and/or ALS staff member.
  • Greet clients, visitors, stakeholders visiting the Redfern Street Office and notify the appropriate staff member of their arrival.
  • Book all ALS employee travel and accommodation as per the ALS Travel Policy and with the support of the travel provider.
  • Manage and track building access cards for both Redfern offices and ALS staff.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as directed such as, calendar management, scheduling activities on behalf of others and other ad hoc duties.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • 3+ years’ experience in an administrative role within a professional environment
  • Experience dealing with internal and external clients coupled with excellent customer service skills and proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and an excellent phone manner.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the cultural and social needs of Aboriginal people combined with continuing respect and support for Aboriginal cultural practices when considering service delivery and other support for clients, their families, communities, and employees.
