Centre Coordinator

Amaroo Neighbourhood Centre

The role of the Amaroo Coordinator is to work within the Community to provide services, support and a safe and welcoming environment for people of all ages, backgrounds, culture and gender.

Background

Amaroo Neighbourhood Centre acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Traditional Owners of the land now known as Monash where the Centre is located and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

The Amaroo Neighbourhood Centre (ANC) opened initially as an op-shop/Fix-it Centre in 1980 arising from a need in the west ward of Waverley for a local organisation providing a range of goods and services that the local residents could afford. The centre now provides a range of community support services, holds a wide selection of classes and is home to one of Melbourne's best op shops. ANC was incorporated in June 1986.

We are funded by DHHS, Op-Shop revenue, grant opportunities and the generous support of the Monash City Council. ANC is a non-profit organisation.

ANC values flexible working arrangements and embraces workplace diversity, inclusion and equality. ANC is a safe place for all staff, volunteers and community members and we are committed to zero tolerance to all forms of bullying and harassment.

Position Objectives

  • Developing and promoting a range of services and activities that create opportunities for individuals and groups to enrich their lives through connections they might not otherwise make;
