The Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is the voice for Australia’s oceans. We are Australia’s leading ocean conservation organisation and one of the founding members of Australia’s conservation movement. We are a community of ocean lovers across the nation working to protect our precious marine wildlife and for healthy seas.
We are an independent charity, staffed by a committed group of scientists, educators and passionate advocates who have defended Australia’s oceans since 1965. Our paid and volunteer staff work every day to protect our coasts and oceans.
AMCS is campaigning to prevent the expansion of offshore fossil fuel and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
Our oceans are being developed and exploited at an unsustainable rate. With offshore oil and gas exploration increasing this not only has direct impacts on marine wildlife and habitats, but also traps the community and the economy into continued dependence on fossil fuels, and locks us into catastrophic climate change.
We are seeking a communications professional experienced in campaign communications to work with our committed team of campaign and communications staff on one of AMCS' most high-profile and fast-moving campaigns. This role will drive the design and delivery of effective communications strategies for our Oil and Gas campaign. With our oceans under more pressure from an expanding offshore fossil fuel sector, you will play a crucial role in shaping the public engagement in our campaign to protect our oceans and marine life from the harmful impacts of the fossil fuel industry.
Please see the attached PD for a full list of responsibilities and further details on the role including the selection criteria. For more information on AMCS’ Offshore Oil & Gas campaign see here.
You’ll play an important role in protecting our oceans. You will be part of a committed group of passionate advocates who have defended Australia’s marine environment for almost 60 years. We care about our team and creating a supportive workplace.
If this role sounds like you we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Please click "Apply Now" and follow the instructions.
AMCS is a strictly non-partisan and an equal opportunities employer. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with a disability, LGBTIQ+ people, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia. That is, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work on an ongoing basis.
A position description is attached. For more information on our work and our people please visit our website.
