The Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) is a progressive Union dedicated to advancing the rights and wellbeing of manufacturing workers and our communities.
We are driven by our values. We are democratic, inclusive, fair and respectful; we do what we say; and we work strategically, standing together as one to deliver outcomes for members.
This temporary role is crucial for ensuring the Union’s adherence to governance and fair work standards, providing administrative support across policy development, implementation, review, and compliance activities. Working closely with national officers and state branches, this position is essential in maintaining compliance with the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009.
Operating under the direction of the National Executive Officer, you will be accountable for ensuring that office holders fulfill their obligations under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act, including organising training or managing exemption applications. You will offer support, guidance, and advice to state branches and the national office on disclosure requirements, conduct internal audits on membership and financial processes, and deliver reports to branches for necessary actions.
Your responsibilities will also include maintaining and updating databases related to conflicts of interest, family declarations, office holders, induction resources, and new employees. Additional duties include conducting vehicle inspections per Union policies, coordinating market testing, overseeing contracts due for review, and rolling out new IT devices.
You will also coordinate and provide administrative support for the Audit, Risk, and Investment Committee, including preparing agendas, compiling reports, attending meetings, minute taking and fulfilling related tasks.
In conjunction with the Union’s National Operations Officer, you may be required to conduct internal financial and membership audits, which may require interstate travel to state branches.
If you are dedicated to fostering accountability, transparency, policy excellence, integrity, compliance, and risk management—and you possess relevant skills and experience—this role presents an opportunity for you.
