Anglicare is seeking a Financial Capability Worker to join the Integrated Financial Counselling and Wellbeing team.

The core mission of Anglicare (NSW South, West & ACT) is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children, young people and families. We have a particular focus on serving vulnerable communities in the ACT and regional, rural NSW.

Anglicare's Integrated Financial Counselling and Wellbeing Programs provide free, face-to-face, confidential services offering one-on-one financial counselling, ongoing casework services, budgeting support and consumer education. We provide financial counselling and support to people dealing with the emotional trauma and distress caused by financial crisis. It is a comprehensive, trauma informed, financial counselling service which provides assistance toward re-gaining financial independence.

Due to the increasing demand for our services in Goulburn we have a new opportunity within the team for a Financial Capability Worker. Reporting to the Coordinator of Financial Counselling and Wellbeing, the Financial Capability Worker will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure smooth operation of Anglicare's Integrated Financial Counselling and Wellbeing Programs. This could include;

  • Triaging incoming referrals and making initial contact and assess a person's presenting financial, personal and any other relevant circumstances.
  • Coaching to help people improve their money management skills.
  • Developing budgets.
  • Basic community education to increase financial literacy.

About You

The most important attribute that you can bring to this role is your engaging, helpful and friendly nature. You will also have the ability to multi-task and remain professional in all situations, have excellent communication and social skills, a willingness to learn, and be prepared to work with a diverse team.

You will be required to have a Certificate IV in Community Services Work or equivalent or higher qualification as well as the completion of (or willingness to complete) the following financial literacy education units or equivalent:

  • CHCFLE301A - work with clients needing a financial literacy education;
  • CHCFLE302A - educate clients in fundamental financial literacy skills; a
  • CHCFLE303A - educate clients to understand debt and consumer credit.

This position offers enormous job satisfaction. The salary is $36.00 an hour plus 11% employer superannuation guarantee.
