The Anglican Church Community Services Commission (The Commission / Board), established under the Anglican Church Diocese of Brisbane provides strategic direction and policy development and monitoring of the community welfare, social justice, health and aged and community care activities of the Diocese. The direction and control ( they don’t have control to the full extent- could we reword to something like direction and continued success?) of Anglicare SQ, including its business and affairs is vested in the Commission/Board as a whole, and is responsible to the Diocesan Council.
As our current Chair comes to the end of his fixed term, we are now looking for our next voluntary Chair to help lead us through an exciting period of change, reform, growth and innovation.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a large, complex and highly reputable organisation with scale and scope. Backed by a strong board, made up of 10 members, plus the CEO, the Archbishop and the newly created deputy Chair position. The Commission is supported by three sub-committees; Audit and Risk, People and Culture, Clinical Care and Governance.
The Chair of the Board (Commission) is responsible for steering the Commission’s strategic direction and decision-making while upholding the highest governance standards of the organisation. In this role, you will be critical in ensuring the effectiveness of the Board and its individual members, both in and out of the Boardroom.
As the Chair of the Board, you will be responsible for leading board meetings, ensuring accountability of deliverance advocating for ASQ’s mission and strategic goals, working closely with our CEO and Executive team with the support of the Company Secretary.
Monthly Board meetings (10 per year, with an even mix of in person and virtual attendance), Diocesan Council meetings (in person at Ann Street office after hours), fortnightly meetings with CEO/Company Secretary (via Teams), attendance at annual Synod (2 days over weekend) and other events as pre-determined.
