The Program:

The Navigator Program is an intensive, targeted, education support service where Case Managers work in collaboration with schools, young people, families, and external stakeholders to find ways to achieve educational goals.

In 2023-24, 847 young people were supported to re-engage with their education through the Navigator program.

About the role:

You will primarily be working with children who have disconnected from school. Many of these young people have complex barriers to educational engagement & have not responded to school-based engagement interventions. Young people may experience barriers such as mental health, disability, and neurodiversity as well as trauma.

Your role is to work with young people, their families & support networks to address these issues underlying disengagement & help them re-engage with their education & achieve their goals. 

Make your mark:

  • Extensive case management experience, drawing from a variety of appropriate frameworks and theoretical approaches.
  • Bring your area of expertise to a diverse team be that mental health, disability, education or family services.
  • Assist disengaged learners to re-connect back into education and learning.
  • Successfully build rapport with children and young people, who present with a range of complex challenges such as mental health, disability, neurodiversity, trauma.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and liaison skills.
  • Ability to work with government and non-government organisations, community groups and clients’ families/networks.
  • Knowledge of school environments and educational policy.

  • A salary at SCHADS level 5 which equates to around $97,377 plus super.
  • Flexible through the increments up to 5.3 dependent upon experience.
