Communication Officer

AnimalKIND (formerly Animal Liberation Queensland) has been advocating for the rights of animals since 1979. We campaign on a broad range of animal protection issues such as rodeos, intensive farming and racing.

POSITION DETAILS

  • Reports to: Campaign Manager
  • Hours: Part-time - 15-20 hours per week. Flexible working arrangements with occasional evening and weekend work required.
  • Term: 12 months
  • Salary $59,540 FTE plus super

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Communication Officer will be responsible for all aspects of communicating with our supporters, through managing our social media, responding to incoming enquiries and managing our newsletters and outgoing communications. You will work closely with our Campaign Manager and Administration Assistant and be part of a friendly and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage AnimalKIND’s social media accounts
  • Content creation including graphics and video
  • Write copy for social media posts
  • Writing, designing and sending outgoing supporter communications including emails and newsletters
  • Respond to incoming enquiries from our supporters
  • Following up lapsed donors
  • Provide campaign assistance
  • Assist with CRM Management
  • Assist with website updates and new content
  • Assist with event management, stalls and volunteer engagement
  • Attend monthly Board meetings
  • Perform other duties as required by the Board

Requirements

  • Values strongly aligned with AnimalKIND's vision (including adhering to a vegan lifestyle).
  • Detailed knowledge of animal rights issues, and other animal protection groups and demonstrated experience or involvement with furthering animal protection or animal welfare.
  • Experience working in communication/marketing/social media/digital marketing/charity.
  • Ability to develop and communicate strong and effective communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Flexibility and ability to jump between tasks, effective time management: establish priorities, organise workload, manage time and meet deadlines agreed to with supervisor.
  • Previous social media experience including scheduling and moderating.
  • Excellent written and analytical skills.
  • Good organisational and delegation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Highly self-motivated and organised.
  • Strong preference for graphic design and video editing skills.
  • Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, Google Workspace and Zoom.
  • Ability to work remotely (from home).

Desirable:

  • Existing networks and relationships within the animal protection community in Qld and throughout Australia.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM
  • Fundraising experience
