The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) (South Australian Branch) is seeking an Industrial Officer to join our team.

About the Role

The Industrial Officer will provide a high standard of service for members’ enquiries and will support and represent members and groups of members in relation to their industrial and/or professional issues to employers, including through enterprise bargaining.

About You

To be considered for the position you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Qualifications and experience as a legal practitioner or industrial relations practitioner/advocate.
  • Knowledge of employment law and/or knowledge or experience of nursing, midwifery and/or aged care practice, policy or management.
  • Ability to provide industrial advice to the staff/members of ANMFSA in collaboration, where necessary, with the Branch’s advisers.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and represent members effectively in relation to their industrial and workplace matters, both at the initial enquiry stage and through ongoing file management.
  • Demonstrated skills in:
    • Advocacy; and
    • Negotiation; and
    • Problem solving.
  • Undertaking case work or projects relevant to this role.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and attention to detail.
  • Sound time management skills and the ability to organise own work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of trade unionism and have a strong client service focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team, be self-directed within that environment and provide advice and support to other members of the team.
  • Ongoing commitment to undertake the personal and professional development required to ensure currency of knowledge and skills at the required level.
  • Hold a current driver’s licence.
  • Hold a current WWCC (Working with Children Check) or have the ability to obtain one.

ANMF (SA Branch) has been both a progressive industry body and the leading voice for the nursing and midwifery workforce for more than a century, working together to negotiate positive outcomes at a local, state and federal level.

As a service of ANMF (SA Branch), the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Education Centre (ANMEC) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and SA’s 2019 Training Provider of the Year. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality education with great student support, flexible learning options, and excellent student outcomes.

ANMF (SA Branch) also operates an in-house legal firm, Union Legal SA, providing legal services to both members and non-members, and works with other partners to support the Rosemary Bryant Foundation, a charity sponsoring nursing and midwifery research.
