About A Gender Agenda (AGA)

AGA works with and on behalf of intersex, trans and gender diverse people, their friends, families and allies.

AGA aims to support the goals and needs of the intersex, transgender and gender diverse communities of Canberra and the surrounding region. Through education, advocacy, peer support and professional networks we connect people to each other and build off the wisdom of collective experiences. For over fifteen years, AGA has represented a gold standard of TGD+I support that is unique in Australia.

About the Role

AGA has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Intersex Project Coordinator to join their passionate and dedicated team in Canberra.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for:

  • engaging with intersex people and managing a number of community development programs and activities to support and engage intersex people and their friends, family and supporters in a safe environment
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure a well-developed social media presence, publicising an array of information and events relating to AGA programs, policy and advocacy.
  • Providing community outreach, advocacy and support for intersex people, including individual referrals where necessary.
  • Working collaboratively and contributing to the harmony of a small team in delivering outcomes for intersex people and other AGA community members.

To be successful in this role you will have strong project management skills and experience to deliver a range of tailored activities and programs for stakeholders which reflect community need and are aligned with the AGA Strategic Plan.

You’ll possess well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to liaise and engage with a wide range of diverse stakeholders, including intersex, transgender and gender diverse people. Alongside this you will be highly organised and confident in your ability to manage competing priorities in order to ensure deadlines are met.

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding that intersex status is about variations of biology and not gender identity or sexual orientation.

Lived experience and /or a strong identification of engaging effectively and working collaboratively with diverse communities, including members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and Gender Diverse communities will be highly regarded.

It is a requirement you have a valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration (WWVP).
