About us

A Gender Agenda (AGA) aims to support the goals and needs of the intersex, transgender and gender diverse communities of Canberra and the surrounding region. Through education, advocacy, peer support and professional networks we connect people to each other and build off the wisdom of collective experiences.

The role

Reporting to the Training Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing support and assistance in the development and delivery of community-based training and education programs for A Gender Agenda (AGA).

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Assisting in the design, research and preparation of course material for community-based training and education programs for AGA.
  • Providing support in the delivery of community-based education and training programs from a variety of resources.
  • Providing administrative support for education, training and development programs and initiatives.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of policies, procedures, training methods and schedules to support education and training operations and initiatives.
  • Maintaining comprehensive training records, which ensure confidentiality of program participants and meet the requirements of the organisation.

We are seeking a person with:

  • Experience designing and delivering training programs.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Able to take initiative and work with limited supervision, but also able to work collaboratively with a small diverse team to meet the needs of management, stakeholders and the community.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, including Windows environment and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position (eg. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment) will be highly regarded.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have lived experience and /or a strong identification of engaging effectively and working collaboratively with diverse communities, including members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and Gender Diverse communities. A valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration (WWVP) is essential.

The position offers a generous full-time equivalent annual salary circa $75,000, plus super, plus salary packaging options.
