ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Food Services Manager is responsible for overseeing ARCO’s Food Pantries at Marrickville and Camperdown. This includes the supervision of a team of four people, the Camperdown Food Pantry Manager, 2 drivers and a Warehouse Coordinator. The role also oversees and manages a large volunteer workforce.

The Food Services Manager has a key role in supporting the delivery of the outcomes for food justice grants and programs.

The Food Services Manager will liaise with donors and vendors and identify potential food donation and funding opportunities. This role reports to the Food Operations Program Manager and works closely with other ARCO team members, including the Volunteer Coordinator and Strategic Alliances Manager.

This is a grant-funded role for 12 months (with possibility for extension).

Hours: 25 hours per week (sometimes up to 30 hours) across 5 days (during the food pantry opening hours).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of multi-site food pantries at Marrickville and Camperdown.
  • Supervise 4 staff members and a volunteer workforce, working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Support the delivery of the outcomes for grants awarded to ARCO.
  • Identify potential partners and manage partner and stakeholder relations.
  • Manage vehicle fleet and equipment/facilities.
  • Manage stock purchasing, pricing, and inventory control.
  • Maintain expenses in line with budget.
  • Maintain records i.e. budgets, rosters, stocktakes, donations etc. CHEP transfers, vouchers, food safety plan etc.
  • Undertake training and professional development as required, passing information regarding safe food handling procedures to staff and volunteers.
  • Performance of other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience managing food services.
  • Line management experience, managing operational staffing issues.
  • Experience in community development and working with vulnerable communities.
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (FSS) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Training in manual handling and heavy lifting.
  • Full drivers’ licence.
  • Working With Children’s Check.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Experience or knowledge working with Not-For-Profits.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • First Aid certificate.
